52 Dates in 52 weeks

Sooo...I do not know how I am supposed to do this.  After an exhausting text fight with another friend that is a boy but definitely not a "boyfriend," my dear friend Michael gave me this idea that I needed to "get back on that horse" and throw myself into the world of dating. After about 2 bottles of cheap wine and going through all the terrible Law & Order SVU like scenarios that could happen, I decided that he was right.  I need to do this not only for myself but for all those single girls in Chicago and prove to them that there are some good guys out there.  And, I am always up for a challenge :)

Michael set the rules: 52 weeks in a year, 52 dates.  I can meet these eligible bachelors through friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friends, online, class, work, at a bar, at Starbucks, speed dating, wine aisle at Whole Foods in Lincoln Park, the gym, basically wherever!  And my commitment to you is that if you follow me, I promise to update this thing and share all of the juicy deets with you.

Thinking back, I haven't been on a real date since 2002 when my "boyfriend" and I went to the mall with about twelve other preteens.  We sat next to each other at the movies (I believe it was a Lord of the Rings flick) and drew ketchup smiley faces on each other's napkins at Johnny Rockets.  Ahhh young love.  We continued to IM each other for awhile, however our relationship fizzled out when he traded me in for a new model...a freshman.  Since then, I have lost all confidence in the male species.  I have been attracted to  interesting men boys (calling them men would give them too much credit....) and have always remained (relatively) single throughout high school, college, and in my post graduate life.  Being single in Chicago can be great, I just haven't experienced it to it's fullest.  I am a repeat offender of going out with my iPhone glued to my hand.  Not only do I never fail to place my phone in sticky Pineapple Upside Down shot residue while I text  that guy (You know the type...the one that doesn't see a future with you but continues to text you anyways?) but more importantly,  I totally come across as unavailable which isn't going to get me anywhere anytime soon!

If you have any comments or suggestions or would like to nominate a young man for me to date, please leave me some love!

With 2011 coming to a close, I have a new mission.  Even if I don't find love, I hope I can find love within myself and have a little fun while doing it.

Here's to 2012!  Have a safe and healthy New Years!  Bottoms up!
